Other Pests You May See

On this page
  • Grape whitefly
  • Grasshoppers
  • European fruit lecanium scale

During bloom through veraison, look for evidence of thrips, whiteflies, and grasshoppers. Whitefly honeydew can encourage sooty mold growth. Grasshoppers have chewing mouthparts and can defoliate young shoots. Names link to more information on identification, management, or biology.

Grasshopper
Grasshoppers
Identification tip
: Grasshoppers have robust bodies, relatively short antennae, and hind legs with greatly enlarged femurs. Mass migrations from uncultivated adjoining rangelands can severely damage vines.

During veraison, also look for European fruit lecanium on leaves and shoots.
