Whitewashing trunksPrevent sunburn by applying white interior (not exterior)
nonenamel latex paint diluted with an equal amount of water
to young trunks. Whitewash trunks from 1 inch below ground
level to at least 2 feet above to prevent sunburn. Borers,
especially flatheaded borers, are frequently a problem on
young trees whose trunks have been sunburned.
