turn reddish brown and die back and often exude drops
of yellowish pitch; attacks many species, but especially
Giant Sequoia

Identification tip: Dark, reddish pitch appears
on pine limbs or trunk; branches may die; affects pine
trees only.

lesions on young shoots or spurs; concentric ridges

Identification tip: Sunken, smooth, roughly elliptical,
reddish brown cankers appear; affects many broadleaf
and needle species

Identification tip: Resinous lesions form on infected
bark; fungus can girdle limbs; affects only cypress
