More about weeds in celery:
|
|
Most celery-growing regions are only confronted with annual
broadleaves and grasses, and most of these, except little mallow, are effectively
controlled with current weed management tools.
LITTLE MALLOW. Little mallow
can
be
a problem if it is allowed to get too large (five to six leaves). The larger
plants
are only
burned by chemicals and not controlled; they will need to be hand-hoed.
YELLOW NUTSEDGE. Some areas may
have yellow nutsedge. This weed is best controlled with field selection, crop
rotation,
or
mechanical
methods. An
alternative is to only grow celery in the winter months when the nutsedge is
dormant.
