How to Manage Pests

UC Pest Management Guidelines

Floriculture flower crops.

Floriculture and Ornamental Nurseries

General Information

(Reviewed 1/02, updated 1/02)

In this Guideline:

The disease section of this guideline is an updated revision of two previous publications: California Greenhouse Disease Management and Diseases of Field-Grown Flowers. The information is presented in four sections in this guideline: GENERAL INFORMATION (section A1), DISEASES COMMON TO MANY PLANTS (section A2), DISEASE CONTROL OUTLINES (section A3), and HOST-PATHOGEN INDEX (section A4).

DISEASES COMMON TO MANY PLANTS contains sections on major diseases of floriculture and ornamental greenhouse crops in California, including a Treatment Table where effective chemical treatments are available.

The DISEASE CONTROL OUTLINES are outlines of 32 ornamental crops and their major diseases. Each entry briefly details the symptoms, how the pathogen survives in the environment, and control information. Diseases that are covered in depth in Diseases Common to Many Plants are marked with an asterisk.

The HOST-PATHOGEN INDEX is a list of 15 additional ornamental hosts not previously covered in the Disease Control Outlines and some of the pathogens that attack these hosts. Diseases covered in Diseases Common to Many Plants are noted with an asterisk or a more info link.
