| Female mites lay eggs singly
or in groups under leaf sheaths of new plant growth in the spring.
Eggs are spherical, transparent, and about one-third of the length
of the adult mite. There are two nymphal stages before mites become
adults. A single generation can take as few as 5 days to complete
when temperatures are warm. There are several generations per year. |
