Planting and management tips for seashore paspalum


Mowing

  • Seashore paspalum is often hard to mow and is slow to recover from mowing damage (scalping).
  • Mow at 0.75 - 1.5 inches.

Fertilizing

  • Fertilize using 2 - 3 lbs. nitrogen/1000 sq. ft. per year during the period of active growth (late March - August).

Planting

  • Establish by sod or stolons.
  • Establish during the time of most active growth when temperatures are above 70 F.
  • Use 3 - 5 bushels stolons/1000 sq. ft.

Irrigation

  • Water infrequently as needed.
