Degree-Days: Single Triangulation Methods

Each image links to a larger image and formula.

Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day’s min, its max, and the next day’s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. The max temperature is above the upper threshold, and the min temperatures are between the thresholds.
Intercepted by the upper threshold.

The max temperature is above the upper threshold, and the min temperatures are below the lower threshold.
Intercepted by both thresholds.
Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day’s min, its max, and the next day’s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. The max and min temperatures are between the thresholds.
Entirely between both thresholds.
Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day’s min, its max, and the next day’s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. The max temperature is between the thresholds, and the min temperatures are below the lower threshold.

Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day’s min, its max, and the next day’s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. The max and min temperatures are above the upper threshold.
Completely above both thresholds.
Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day’s min, its max, and the next day’s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. In this instance the number of degree-days is zero, since both the max and min temperatures are below the lower threshold.
Completely below both thresholds.
